BRADNINCH FOLK CLUB
Who we are
Club Night’s are a great evening for informal music making and provide an opportunity for those developing their skills to mix with the experienced and professional performers.
It has been great to see performers go from beginners to stage performers. It is also a pleasure to be in the company of friends and welcome visitors.
When and where
The Bradninch Folk Club meets every two weeks alternating between the Castle Hotel Function Room  or Ye Olde White Lion.
This Autumn we will be returning to our roots with Guest Nights, door open 8:00pm “show starts” 8:30pm.  The evening will offer the audience a set piece entertainment of “floor spots” and a guest artist in concert.  We will feature the best local and national performers, some from this and previous years’ festivals. An entry fee (as small as we can make it) will be charged on guest nights.
Come along and enjoy the company and the entertainment.

Somerset's finest
"All acoustic, foot stompin' stuff". Original performance in the traditional bluegrass style
O
ne of the most exciting and innovative bands on the bluegrass circuit.  Combining the tradition of a single-mic performance with all-acoustic instruments, blistering four-part harmonies, a strong original & classic setlist and a no-compromise determination to always give a top notch, 100% performance.

07 March Club Night at the White Lion free
8:45 start

21  March Rosie Eade + Davey Malone at the Castle Hotel £4
Doors open 8:00 and 8:30 start

"Rosie Eade, one of the finest new voices on the acoustic scene", Burnham-On-Sea Folk Festival.

"Rosie's own songs... played alongside traditional folk ... are infused with a sense of urgency. A balance of powerful yearning and personal reflection”, Scrumpy 'n' Western.

Rosie Eade "Folk-Pixie": Solo musician, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, playing lively and evocative life inspired songs of her own, interspersed with carefully chosen traditional songs, all arranged around her love of folk, rock and thrashing her old nylon strung guitar. Equally at home within the folk, rock and acoustic genres, she plays at folk-clubs, pubs and festivals throughout the country; recent years have included Glastonbury's Avalon Cafe, Beautiful Days, Rochester Sweeps and Bearded Theory. Likened to the voices of Kate Bush, Maddy Prior and Grace Slick, yet inspired by The Who as much as Steeleye Span, she has supported the likes of Julie Fowlis, Nick Harper, Martin Carthy & Dave Swarbrick, Dave Pegg & PJ Wright, and Holly Golightly, to high acclaim. 2011/12 sees Rosie touring her debut album "No Fairytale" - a concept album bringing together folk myths and fairytales, with a dark twist and an absolute wealth of special guests. Rosie has come a long way since being complimented by the Irish World for her first performance in the Cambridge Folk Festival club tent back in 2002, but the guitar remains and, with or without band, people are still surprised how this little "folk-pixie" can make music that sounds so much larger.

Davey Malone (AKA Hobo Jones)

Davey has a unique combination of Raw Trash Folk, Acoustic Punk, and Comedy. Blending originals and quirky re-worked covers, he can tailor his vocal style to suit, be it a raucous tongue in cheek Punk number, a heart rending melancholic ballad, or a ridiculous comedy song, the audience just go with him on his Roller-coaster ride of styles and emotions. His gigs are interspersed with audience interaction, jokes and anecdotal stories of his colourful career. A wonderful counterpoint to Rosie but they combine their performances to great effect.
